Trojan horse payloads are almost always designed to cause harm, but can also be harmless. They are classified based on how they breach and damage systems. The six main types of Trojan horse payloads are:
Remote Access
Data Destruction
Downloader
Server Trojan(Proxy, FTP , IRC, Email, HTTP/HTTPS, etc.)
Security software disabler
Denial-of-service attack (DoS)

Some examples of damage are:
Erasing or overwriting data on a computer
Re-installing itself after being disabled
Encrypting files in a cryptoviral extortion attack

Upload and download of files
Copying fake links, which lead to false websites, chats, or other account based websites, showing any local account name on the computer falsely engaging in untrue context
Falsifying records of downloading software, movies, or games from websites never visited by the victim.
Allowing remote access to the victim’s computer. This is called a RAT (remote access trojan)
Spreading other malware, such as viruses (this type of trojan horse is called a ‘dropper’ or ‘vector’)

Antivirus 2009 is considered as one of the widely spread and most successful rogue antivirus application that infects vast number computers around the world. Antivirus 2009 pretends to be a security application but crated primarily to sell the rogue security product by using unfair method of fake scanning and detection to assure the victim of its importance.

Antivirus XP 2008 is a new rogue anti-spyware program that is advertised through Trojans and other malware. It is advertised in the form of fake security alerts and warnings on web sites that state you are infected with malware or are being attacked in some manner. When you click on these ads, it will automatically download the installer for Antivirus XP 2008 and install it on your machine. In some cases, this program is installed without any intervention at all from you.

Once installed, AntivirusXP 2008 will scan your computer and display a variety of security risks found on your computer that can only be removed if you purchase a license of the software. These risks, though, are all fake and are only being displayed to scare you into thinking you are infected and thus purchase their software. Another tactic that AntivirusXP 2008, and the accompanied malware, uses is to change your desktop background to be a message stating you are infected, popups and fake alerts stating your computer is being attacked, and a fake Internet Explorer page that states Google has found your computer to be infected. All of these are further scare tactics and should be ignored. These methods are all illustrated in the images below.
